Embu College Tops KATTI Regional Fete

The 2023 Kenya Association of Technical Training Institutions (KATTI), Mt. Kenya East regional athletics and indoor competition kicked off from 16-18 February at the Meru Teachers Training College. Embu College was well represented in the event with over a dozen athletes taking part in the competitive fete.

Embu College emerged an impressive position 1 overall with 160 points which was an improvement from last year’s competition where the college emerged as number 2 overall.

Our athletes garnered a total of 27 medals including; 15 Gold, 6 Silver and 6 Bronze as summarized below.

Kelvin MurikI scooped Gold in the 100, 200 and 400M categories, and Justus Muema won Gold in the 800M category. Brian Muthomi on the other hand won Gold in the 1500M, 5,000M and 10,000M men’s categories. In the ladies’ group, Jacinta Mutheu bagged four Gold medals namely; 1500M, 3000M and 10,000M as well as 10,000 walk. Fredrick Maina won a Gold medal in Javelin. Kelvin Muriki, Calvin Mwendwa, Nixon Gitonga and Justus Muema won silver in the 4×400 steeplechase. Sharon Chepkoech won Gold in badminton women’s singles and doubles after teaming up with Caroline Muisu. Let us applaud our athletes for their outstanding performance.
